Maldon Fields Crematorium
“A place to pause and remember, celebrate and mourn, in the most comforting of settings. Nestled into the landscape and screened with existing woodlands and hedgerows, Maldon Fields Crematorium provides a private, secluded spot for families to hold the dignified service of their choice. Maldon Fields Crematorium is conveniently located just off the Maldon Road at Woodham Mortimer, opposite St Margaret’s Church. It sits nestled behind a copse, with long views across the countryside and over to the waters of Maldon, making it a tranquil, natural spot, offering a place of peace and seclusion, so important for a funeral. The gardens and grounds have been designed to resemble a mature parkland. Wide lawns, framed with trees, hedging and beds of flowers and plants join wild flower meadows reaching out to the existing woodlands “
The Customer
Our clients approached us as they were building a new crematorium in Maldon, Essex in our local community. The new crematorium is set to relieve pressure on Chelmsford, Colchester and Basildon crematoria, and offer more time for families to hold a service. We was approached as we are the local Signage company and they had seen our presence on social media sites. Also, as this was the last step in their project they need a quick turnaround time.
The final steps in their project was to add window decals / window frosting to create some privacy in and around the crematorium for families during a service and to add a personal touch of their brand to the entrance of the site.
Project Brief
Due to the nature involved within this project they chose a flower, bird and plant based wallpaper for internal decoration round the crematorium. They said they would love if we could match this exact design for their window decals. Therefor the main requirements was that we could work closely with them to extract samples from the wallpaper provided to create a unique window frosting / decal for them to use around the building. This needed to be done in a timely manner to meet the deadline - first funeral being held 04.12.2024.

Project Management
Charlotte (Business Developer) - I responded to the initial enquiry from the teams graphic designer, I spoke with them to get a rough idea on what they were looking for and the best way to take the next steps. I passed this across to Tonys attention and arranged a site survey and visit.
Tony (Director) - Our director Tony met with staff on site and spoke with the team talking them through our services and what we offer. He discussed options for products and design and what would work best and enquired to find out exactly what they were looking for. Tony took the sizes of each door and window for the design and production process.
Connor (Graphic Designer) - Our graphic designer took on board the discussions and requirements Tony had with the client, he worked closely with them using our software to create the perfect design for them. Once a design is produced this is sent to the client to work with them towards the final design / mock up for their approval before its sent into production. Once the approval came through this is sent to cut and begin production.
George & Spiros (Sign Fitters) - Once cut out this is passed onto our bench and installation team, the design was carefully weeded and prepared for installations to the windows. Once this is completed our fitters both headed to site to install the window decals paying close attention to detail and working with the team on site to ensure everything is installed in the correct location.
Design Solutions
We took a sample of left over wallpaper from the site, scanned this onto the computer software to be drawn over by our graphic designer Connor. Connor carefully listened to the client and what parts they liked best and extracted them from the overall design and re drew these elements to create the new design for the decals.
I spoke directly with the client to ensure they were kept updated with our production and booked the installation as soon as we had availability ensuring them the project would be completed on time.
