BACKGROUND
Twickenham Stadium, the iconic home of England Rugby and the world's largest dedicated rugby union venue, capable of seating up to 82,000 spectators.
Twickenham Stadium is more than just a place to watch rugby. It's where people come from all over to feel the excitement of a match day, see big music stars, learn history on a stadium tour, check out the World Rugby Museum, host events, or shop at the Rugby Store.
Challenge: Our project with Twickenham Stadium started in October 2023, during their very busy schedule. The challenge was not just about making signs but also about time. The stadium's outdoor signs needed a new look. These signs were curved and not easy to work with. We had to take them down, study them, and then plan how to make them better. Time was tight, and we had to fit our work around the stadium's many events.
OUR SOLUTION
Understanding the importance of maintaining the stadium's brand and legacy, we proposed a solution that was both innovative and respectful of its heritage.
Our approach was to:
- Careful Study and Planning: We carefully took down the old signs and brought them to our warehouse for templating and creating new CAD drawings. This helped us understand how to manufacture the new ones.
- Smart Design and Making: Our team thought hard about how to keep the old feel but add new touches. The new signs feature built-up, face-illuminated letters, ensuring a contemporary appearance and clear visibility throughout all seasons.
- Timed Right: We planned our work to fit around stadium's busy schedule. This meant we didn't disturb their events or matches.
RESULTS
The transformation was not just physical but experiential. The new signs, with their illuminated letters and modern design, enhanced the stadium's façade, welcoming visitors with a blend of heritage and modernity. The project, completed within the demanding timeframe, was a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and dedication.
Conclusion
The Twickenham Stadium signage project was more than a renovation; it was a celebration of heritage and a stride towards the future. It demonstrated our ability to understand and respect the legacy of a global sports venue while delivering modern, efficient solutions. The success of this project lies not just in the physical signs that now adorn the stadium but in the seamless process and the satisfaction of contributing to the legacy of the home of England Rugby.
Our journey with Twickenham doesn't end here. We look forward to an ongoing partnership, continually enhancing and evolving the stadium experience, keeping pace with the dynamic world of sports and entertainment.
