The Falkirk Corps received high visibility vests and hard hats from Alasdair Wilson of Gemini Supplies in Falkirk which have been printed with the Sally Army's logo by Steve McMurray of Signs Express in Grangemouth. Captain James Elliot said the equipment would be vital to members called out in emergency situations. Also at the handover, which took place at the Salvation Army's Woodside Court worship and community centre in Falkirk, was Alan Montgomery, divisional director of community services. Captain Elliot and Major John McCaffrey were called on to support West of Scotland colleagues during the recent Clutha Bar disaster, when a police helicopter crashed on a Glasgow pub. The captain said: 'This donation will be invaluable in making people aware who we are and where we are. When we were at the Clutha there were a huge number of fire, police and ambulance personnel working on the scene for some time and we were able to supply them with refreshments. 'The West of Scotland division received the call and, because of the scale of the incident, asked us to go along. We don't have an emergency vehicle yet in the East division – although hopefully that will come – but we were happy to provide support.' A chance conversation led to the donation of equipment from Gemini Supplies which Signs Express printed. Alasdair said: 'We were absolutely delighted to get involved.' Steve said his firm was happy to help make the Salvation Army more visible in its community work.
