Marketing checklist for start-up companies - always remember your signage!
News

As a new start-up company, your marketing efforts can easily make the difference between success and failure. To ensure your fledgling business thrives from day one, take a look at our simple and straightforward marketing checklist.

1. Perfect your branding

Before you launch your new venture, you need to ensure that your branding is just right. Work on your logo, your colour scheme and your corporate image until they send the exact message you want them to.

2. Get your signage sorted

Your sign will announce to passing customers that your business is there and tell them what it’s all about. Having a well-designed and well-placed sign will also help customers who are searching for your business to locate your premises. Ideally, you should aim to have your sign in place a while before your business opens, that way you can begin to build a bit of a buzz around your launch.

3. Build a website

These days, having a company website is absolutely essential. Even if your site is pretty basic, it’s important to have an online resource that informs your customers and gets your name out there.

4. Get on social media

Social media is another modern marketing essential. A fantastic way to connect with your target audience and boost your online presence, regular social media use can go a long towards enhancing your marketing efforts.

5. Define your target audience

Before you can begin to sell to your audience, you need to find out exactly who they are. The more you know and understand your customer base, the easier it will be for you to create targeted marketing campaigns that really hit the nail on the head.

6. Get your name out there

Getting your name out there is an important part of launching a start-up business. Although your signage will help with this, you’ll also need to get active on social media and maybe run a few promotional campaigns. Think about advertising hoardings and banners that can help your business get noticed in the area.

7. Blog

Blogging is a fantastic way to boost SEO and build a loyal customer base. Regular and informative blogs give your audience a means through which they can get to know you better. Try to keep your blogs relevant to your industry and interesting for your customers.

8. Get snap happy

As we all know, a picture can say a thousand words. Including photos in your social media profiles, on your blog and in your website will help your customers to get to know your brand and give your company a bit more personality.

9. Get a promotion ready

Launching a start-up with a special offer is always a good way to get things off on the right foot. Customers will be more likely to try a new company if they think they’re getting a bargain, so make sure you line up a few good deals before you open.

10. Check your checklist

Last but definitely not least, it’s important to check your checklist before you launch. It’s very easy to overlook even the most vital marketing steps so go through your list twice and make sure you’ve ticked everything off.
