Royal Gunpowder Mills Secret Island
As part of the ongoing strategy to improve brand recognition, the entrance of Waltham Abbey's Royal Gunpowder Mills Secret Island needed to be more appealing and visible to the public.
Visitor attraction marketing specialists Flamingo Marketing, who have been working with the heritage site since June 2010, needed to incorporate their colourful new branding into the attraction's signage to best effect. Working with Signs Express (Enfield) it was suggested that the high level curved windows of the entrance hall could be the perfect canvas to display a warm welcome.
The install team at Signs Express, used their experience of vinyl wrapping and window graphic application to fit the matt laminated vinyl graphics to the exterior giving a focal point for visitors looking to explore the exhibition and armoury. To solve the problem of visitors being unable to obtain tickets during off peak times when the ticket cabin was closed required directional signage of a different sort! Made to measure roller blinds printed with bespoke graphics and messages were supplied and installed inside the cabin windows. If the building is unmanned then the blinds can be pulled down and customers are directed to the new look main exhibition entrance.
The Royal Gunpowder Mills in Waltham Abbey is an important heritage site with a remarkable true story spanning 300 years of history. Now run by a charitable foundation, this secret location that has been involved in the production and development of explosives and rocket propellants, as well as a top secret government research establishment, is a popular visitor attraction all year round.
