Gyms have been permitted to reopen on the 25th July 2020 if they adhere to a new set of extensive rules and regulations. In order to open (and stay open!) safely, the UK government have provided a list of guidelines that all leisure facilities must abide by.
Gyms in Basildon and South Essex will need to ensure that they have: - Limited numbers in the facility at any one given time - Temporary floor markings for socially distanced classes - Arrow markings and signposts for one-way systems and safely spaced queue management - Spaced out and sneeze guarded equipment - Enhanced cleaning and hand sanitiser provided throughout the facility - Clearly sign posted numbers for how many people are permitted in the swimming pool at any one time Chief executive of David Lloyd Leisure, Glenn Earlam, said there will "have to be screens on reception desks, floor markings ensuring members stay two metres away and every piece of equipment would be cleaned after every use,” with the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport announcing that ““keeping Britain fit is key in Covid battle”. It is in everyone’s best interest to make this reopening a success, for the sake of keeping an many in employment in Essex and around the country and well as the overall health and wellness of the nation. With considerable changes to the way businesses must operate, we all have a part to play in ensuring the welfare of staff, visitors and gym-goers.
