Our Work
Vivienne Westwood exhibition
Signs Express (Sheffield) has added the finishing touches to the V&A Vivienne Westwood exhibition taking place at Museums Sheffield.
As the only UK location to be included in the Vivienne Westwood exhibition tour, Museums Sheffield looked to its local Signs Express to produce a range of signs and graphics to promote the fashion icon's various works. The collection, which includes articles of clothing stretching from early punk garments to historical evening gowns, will be traveling to a number of worldwide destinations over the coming months. The Sheffield centre was approached by Museums Sheffield earlier this year and invited to tender for the work having provided signage for previous projects. After providing the most competitive and thorough quote, the centre set to work producing a number of signs including: wall mounted printed photographs, exhibition displays, cut vinyl graphics and large format window films for photo reproduction. As well as winning the tender for the exhibition, Signs Express (Sheffield North) was also awarded the contract to supply signage for all four of Museums Sheffield's venues as part of the group's re-brand. Signs Express (Sheffield) centre owners, Steve and Carol Morris commented on the projects: 'It's been very exciting developing the signage for both the exhibition and the re-brand. We had to work to very specific deadlines as some of the cabinet displays needed to be locked by a fixed time, which meant there was no room for delays. It didn't cause any problems though as we met the timeframe on schedule. It was also important that all applications were precise and of high quality. We had to go through a number of colour matching processes to ensure that the colours were the exact same shade when matt laminated. Luckily we already had the equipment in place to achieve this.' Museums Sheffield marketing manager Adam Lumb added: 'We were delighted to appoint Signs Express as our signage provider for the UK leg of the world tour and for the re-brand across all four of our museums. Signs Express successfully won the tender based on its competitive pricing and keen focus on health and safety for both the team and the public during previous installation work.'
