The Sign making Apprenticeship has been designed to meet the ever changing demands of the sign making industry from all aspects of design, production and the installation of a variety of signs, from those used for identity and branding for companies to the advertising hoardings around sports grounds. The sign making course involves many diverse skills, from graphic design through to electrical engineering and the apprentice gets to use a variety of materials such as Perspex, vinyl, plastic, metal and glass. Apprentices learn a multitude of skills including how to design a sign, the preparation of different types of surfaces, cutting out and building plastics into letters and logos, with the aid of digital technologies and the installation of signs. The courses are very flexible ranging from College one day a week to attending on site at employers premises or the apprentice can accommodate both. Learning the skills and working alongside the other team members and being interactive with customers. A real 'hands on' course when based alongside the employers.
