We recently were approached by a member of the public whose father had lost his life at sea, not before managing to save 10 lives in the process. This memorial is dedicated to the lives of those who were lost, and remembers the unbelievable acts of selflessness by those who courageously fought through the storm to save the survivors from the raging seas.
We are extremely thankful to have been asked to help with this project, the info panel for the memorial is located on the West Coast of Scotland in a town called Campbeltown. The location of the sign presented us with the problem of weather concerns from our client, as you may know the west coast can be quite wet it is Scotland after all! A beautiful plaque to commemorate the lost lives of those involved on the fateful night of Sunday May 22, 1966 when the Quesada, a converted motor torpedo boat, set sail for a day trip with 18 on board. Those on board fired distress flares in the hope of rescue, one of which was seen south of Davaar Island. Thankfully, Malcolm McGougan & Ronald McCallum who were watching the Quesada from the Carradale road jumped in the car after realising she was in trouble. We would encourage anyone who enjoys a walk around the Scottish coastline to view the panel and let us know what your thoughts are.
