Our Work
Exeter Library
Signs Express (Exeter) has provided both interior and exterior signage for the recently re-opened Exeter library.
The library had been closed for almost 2 years and has undergone a large scale refurbishment. It now boasts, amongst other services, a cafe and seating terrace as well as thousands of brand new books throughout.
The Exeter sign makers worked with Devon County Council on the exterior signage for the building, providing built up lettering and directional signs. Signs Express (Exeter) also provided all the interior signage. Working with designs provided by HMY Radford, the Exeter team manufactured and installed the signage, which included colourful vinyl wall graphics, way finding signs and wall plaques amongst others.
Colour coding was used throughout the library with the Exeter team applying vinyl to each section, helping visitors find exactly what they require. Large suspended circular signs are another fantastic feature, marking help point locations throughout the building.
And it doesn't stop there; the children's area is particularly striking with vibrant, fun vinyl depicting animals displayed throughout, adding to the educational yet fun section of the library. The children's library artwork was by local artist Richard Jones (paintedmouse.com).
Signs Express (Exeter) ensured that the variety of signs were produced to the highest possible standard by their team. With quality at the heart of their values, the result is a colourful and bright new environment for visitors.
Health and safety also needed to be considered with many signs being fixed at height, however with a highly qualified team experienced in working within such environments, all measures were expertly undertaken to ensure a safe installation process.
Commenting on the project, Marion Baxter-Sibley, director at Signs Express (Exeter) said: 'We were excited to manufacture and install such a varied range of signage, and are proud to say we were involved in the project. The newly refurbished library looks fantastic and we look forward to seeing many visitors enjoying it.'
The refurbishment includes around 4000 more books, as well as an increase in large print books, making the services provided accessible to more people, and 85 more shelves for children's books, allowing for more forward facing displays. For a decorative touch, the library also features a model stack of books created by three sculptors; all of the books have an important connection to Exeter library, adding that personal touch. Signs Express (Exeter) was established in 1995 and offers a complete range of signs and graphics solutions to Exeter and the surrounding areas.
