Our Work
The University of Southampton's 60th anniversary
2012 saw the University of Southampton celebrate its 60Th anniversary and Signs Express (Southampton) was tasked with creating a free standing installation to mark the event.
The project, known as 60@60 called for a two metre free standing number 60, which was to be displayed temporarily on the lawn in front of The Hartley Library within the university grounds. Given the location of the sign on a student campus and the fact that it was only temporary, Signs Express (Southampton) needed to propose a solution that would satisfy the clients' vision whilst being aware of potential health and safety issues. Not forgetting that the installation needed to be removed easily. The Southampton sign makers set to work creating a striking and impactful aluminium '60' fixed to a plinth, negating any health and safety issues in respect of the sign potentially falling over. No ground works were needed and the sign was easily removed at the end of the celebrations with minimal disruption. The event caught a lot of attention, featuring both in the local televised news as well as in the local paper; you can read the article here: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/9790513.Join_University_s_60th_anniversary_celebrations/ Signs Express (Southampton) operates in Southampton and surrounding areas such as Romsey, Eastleigh and Winchester. The centre, who pride themselves on excellent customer service, have made considerable investment in full colour technology with the purchase of their own in-house wide format digital printer - the Mimaki JV33, printing excellent quality graphics to enhance their customers' visual communication.
