Spandex came to Signs Express Central Lancashire in February to provide our team with vehicle wrap training using 3M wrapping films
Vehicle graphics is a growing market opportunity which feeds the global trends of personalisation and customisation. Whether for personal or professional use, vehicle wraps show individuality and create brand recognition. Good vehicle wrap training is essential, a professional looking installation is key to a successful well-wrapped project and a satisfied customer! It’s only through proper training that installers can be sure they understand the complexities involved with the wrap process. This includes not only the installation itself but an understanding of the layout/design, printing, materials and finishing of wrap projects. Spandex came to Signs Express Central Lancashire in February to provide our team with vehicle wrap training using 3M wrapping films. This was a hands on course, applying both printed and unprinted films into a variety of recesses and contours typically found on a vehicle. The trainees worked with various 3M wrapping films: 3M™ Wrap Film Series 1080: Available in a variety of finishes, textures and colours (including carbon fibre and metallics), that offer a unique, head-turning look. 3M™ Wrap Film Series 1380: Offers excellent conformability for applications on recesses and deep channels. These vinyl films are available in 1.52 m wide rolls, allowing almost any section of a vehicle to be wrapped without seams. The films offer resistance against petrol spillage and are extremely resistant to all atmospheric influence. 3M Controltac IJ180 Series Cast Vehicle Wrap Digital Printing Film: For flat or moderately curved surfaces. Controltac repositionable and Comply v3 air release adhesive. 3M Controltac IJ380 Series Cast Vehicle Wrap Digital Printing Film: An extremely flexible 50 micron film, suitable for the most challenging vehicle wraps. It will conform into deep or U shape recessed panels and compound contours without the need for stress cuts. The training also provided an overview of the importance of ink and adhesive technology, pit falls encountered in vehicle wrapping and solutions to common problems. The five attendees on the course had a range of wrapping experience, from experienced to apprentice. All five thoroughly enjoyed the session. Thank you very much to Jason Davison from Spandex for sharing his knowledge and expertise with us at Signs Express Central Lancashire. The techniques we have learned can only further improve the quality of our wrapping projects.
