The retail shops of East London charity Richard House Children's Hospice, have taken on a new lease of life with updated shop fascias. To keep costs down Signs Express utilised sign frames in good condition where possible rather than replacing all existing signage. Five shops in all have been re-freshed - Elm Park, Hornchurch, Green Lane Dagenham, Dagenham Heathway and Barking.
As the London charity shops exist solely to raise money for Richard House and all the profits go directly to the hospice, it is important the shops are instantly identifiable by the blue fascia and Richard House logo. They are a vital source of funds, with on average, takings from 2.5 hours trading in an individual shop providing enough to pay for a child's care for a whole day. The purpose built hospice is in Beckton, East London and opened in 2000. At that time this was the first children's hospice in London caring for a handful of children and young people who were at risk of death because of a life-limiting or life-threatening health condition. Today this has grown to over 300 and as around 70% of income is generated through voluntary funding the retail operation plays an important part in this.
