Preston signs manufacturer, Signs Express Central Lancashire, was pleased to help out with the Lancashire Care 'Grow Your Own' project at the Guild Park NHS site near Preston by donating various signs to promote the project and to assist the staff and service users when working on the site.
The 'Grow Your Own Project' has an overall aim to achieve a closed loop system where the Trust can deliver a model for sustainable food whilst improving the health and wellbeing of service users and staff. The project will allow staff and service users the opportunity to grow fresh organic local vegetables on the Guild Park site, which will assist the service users to develop the skills necessary in their recovery process. The Guild Lodge Kitchen, that is used to cater for the medium and low secure wards, will use the vegetables produced by the project in the meals they prepare for staff and service users. The kitchen staff have already commented that the quality of the food produced exceeds what they received from their previous suppliers. Commenting on the donation, Liz Harrison from Lancashire Care said, 'Please accept my thanks for your support in helping the team achieve a brilliant open day on the 28th March'.
